KULTURSOMMER FESTIVAL

As part of the Kultursommer festival inviting Berliners to discover various cultural spaces of the city throughout the summer, Floating Berlin hosted two events in 2022 and will host one in summer 2023. Descending the concrete path, walking through the trees, the Floating wetland unfolds into view. A variety of animals, plants and algae have made this rainwater basin of the former Tempelhof airfield their home and have given rise to a unique landscape: an artificial environment reclaimed by nature, forming a nature-culture site for learning and experimentation that needs constant care.

From workshops, reading sessions, and performances, to screenings and lectures, we curate a dense program to discover and dive into topics emerging from the site : Frogs and Waste (2022) and Rain Water (2023).

Save the date, the next Kultursommer day will happen on the 30 of July of 2023!

RAINWATER SYMPHONIE

IN THE RAINWATER RETENTION BASIN, WHERE FLOATING UNIVERSITY IS SITUATED, WE ARE SURROUNDED AND INSPIRED BY CONSTANTLY CHANGING WATER LEVELS. WITH THE “RAINWATER SYMPHONY” AS PART OF THE CULTURAL SUMMER FESTIVAL, WE WANT TO CELEBRATE THE IMPORTANT ROLE THAT RAIN PLAYS FOR THE ECOLOGY IN THE BASIN AND ALSO OUR CULTURAL ACTIVITIES FOR ONE DAY.
